About

Built to outlast the trends.

"We don't build furniture. We build the piece you'll still have in thirty years."

Tree-2-Table is a handmade woodworking shop. Every piece is designed around the way you live and built one at a time, by hand.

From the first sketch to the final coat of finish, the goal is the same: honest materials, careful joinery, and furniture sturdy enough to be passed down.

  • Locally sourced hardwoods
  • No CNC shortcuts
  • Built to your dimensions
  • Finished by hand

The Maker

Meet Phil

I grew up in Ogdensburg, a small city in northern New York, right along the St. Lawrence River. I suppose I caught the woodworking bug from my mom, who loved collecting and restoring antique furniture.

In seventh grade, I decided to take a wood shop class. I remember being pretty intimidated by all the tools, blades, and drill bits. My first project was a wooden toboggan sled, and it came out great. After that, I was hooked. I took wood shop every year until I graduated, building everything from tables and chessboards to shelves and frames.

For the next 15 years, I didn't do much woodworking, but the interest never went away. After buying a house with a detached garage, I picked it up again out of necessity. We needed a dining table that would fit our kitchenette, so I built one myself. Fourteen years later, we still use it every day.

Over the decades, woodworking has remained a part of my life, and my skills, tools, and projects have grown along with it. I eventually bought a wood lathe, which is now my favorite tool. It's the one tool that really makes me feel like an artist. There's something special about being able to create and change a piece as you're working on it.

These days, I'm making more projects than ever. I try to use as many local materials as possible, including fallen trees from my own neighborhood. Some of the pieces on this website are for sale, and I'm always open to custom projects.

If you like handcrafted woodworking designs, let me know. Maybe we can work something out.
